Job Duties:

Subject Interviews, Questionnaires, Surveys and transcription of tapes:
transcribe tapes of ethnographic interviews; conduct face to face
interviews with key informants; conduct face to face interviews with
study subjects, in homes and occasionally on phones or off-site; conduct
occasional telephone interviews with study subjects; recruit
participants as needed. maintion contact with them as needed; review
participant data; review study questionnaires, consent forms, fliers,
thank you letters, receipts, etc.; assist in analyzing data; recalls
participants for questionnaire completeness, accuracy and consistency.
Computer work: input of interviews into data base; prepare graphs,
charts and other summaries of data and the literature; check interview
data for completeness and accuracy; code and assist in managing data;
assist P.I. in data analysis, and editing of study results for
publishing; use of tracking and data base for study participants.
General Office: photocopy transcriptions of the interview and distribute
to project staff; maintain files of project by code number; assist in
mailings for study participants; conduct library research regarding
issues of project staff interest; assist P.I. and Project Manager with
supervision and training of staff. Outreach: interface, meet, and
communicate with professionals and community representatives on behalf
of the studies; participate in meetings as needed; assist in recruiting
and retaining participants; screen study participants for eligibility.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Skill in typing with speed and accuracy. Skill in using word
processing software. Knowledge of Excel and Word for tracking of
subject screenings, interviews, questionnaires and payments. Skill at
summarizing in graphic and tabular form, print outs of statistical
analyses of data. Ability to do computer input and management of data.
Skill in filing in a systematic and accurate manner and keeping files
up-to-date. Ability to conduct searches over the internet. Knowledge
of UCLA library research methods. Ability to effective communicate with
professional and agency representatives. Ability to work independently.
Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete in a timely manner when
there are changes in assignments. Basic medical and psychosocial
knowledge about human development. Spanish fluency. Knowledge of
Latino Cultures. Knowledge of human development, adolescence and
quantitative and qualitative methods as needed. Possession of a valid
California Driver's License and a reliable car. Ability to work
evenings and weekends. PREFERRED: Skill in using a transcriber.
