Assistant Property Manager
Full-time position: The Assistant Property Manager will support the Property Manager
with the operation of an SRO affordable housing building. Some of the responsibilities
will include ensuring the property is safe and sanitary; maintaining the property’s
physical assets; providing a quality living environment for the residents; assisting
residents move in; and establishing a positive working relationship with the community
and organization’s employees. Other duties may include supervising other housing staff;
collecting rent; entering work orders and cash receipts into Yardi; distributing
correspondences to residents; and ordering supplies. High school diploma or GED
required. Customer service and property management background is preferred.
Criminal, employment and education background check required. Must pass physical
and drug tests. Salary is $8.75 per hour plus free apartment and other great benefits.

Occupancy Specialist
Full-Time Position: The Occupancy Specialist will provide technical support to the
Compliance Administrator/Rental Office. Oversees the Rental Office and coordinates all
aspects of screening applicants for placement into affordable housing programs,
including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit programs (LIHTC); This entails carrying out
waiting list procedures, applicant screening, maintaining files, leasing, move-in/out
paperwork, and assisting with periodic and annual tenant certifications. Maintains and
utilizes specified forms for all tenant screening, leasing and re-certification procedures,
including Section 8 Housing Programs; Assists with the proper application of various
resident selection criteria, lease-ups, weekly vacancy reports and listings of available
housing opportunities. A minimum of 3 years of experience with Affordable Housing
Programs, LIHTC, LAHD; Section 8 Programs, i.e., Shelter plus Care, Moderate Rehab
Services, and Project Based High School diploma, GED required and Certified
Occupancy Specialist preferred; Customer service and property management
background is preferred; Criminal, employment and education background check
required; Must pass physical and drug tests; Salary is $35,000-45,000 per year and

Case Manager - Avenues to Work Program
Full-time position: The Case Manager will provide ongoing case management, housing
placement and employment counseling for clients who are homeless and may have
special needs; work with clients to place in permanent housing; maintain an assigned
client caseload; screen and assess client situations; assist in developing, implementing
and monitoring an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) tailored specifically to each client's
needs; provide information and assistance to clients in obtaining services offered by
SRO Housing Corporation and other community resources. Bachelor’s degree in
employment-related areas such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Business, Economics,
Labor Relations, or related fields preferred; Must have proven track record placing
clients in permanent housing; Demonstrated successful experience in a community-
based, social-service/ employment agency with two or more years experience,
preferably in a nonprofit environment; Criminal, employment and education background
check required; Must pass physical and drug tests; Valid CA Driver License and proof of
liability insurance. Salary is $28,000 - 31,000/yr plus great benefits.

Case Manager- Permanent Supportive Housing Programs
Full-Time position: The Case Manager will provide ongoing case management for clients
who are homeless and present with special needs; maintain an assigned client

area, e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Gerontology, Human Services,
Anthropology, Public Health and one to two years social service experience in a
nonprofit environment; or an Associate degree in a Human Services area and
demonstrated successful experience in a community-based, social-service agency with
three or more years experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment; specific
training/experience working with homeless persons who may have co-occurring
conditions such as mental illness, HIV/AIDS, substance addiction; Must be bilingual
(English/Spanish); Criminal, employment and education background check required;
must pass physical and drug tests; Valid CA Driver License and proof of liability
insurance. Salary is $27,000 - 30,000/yr plus great benefits.

Janitor
Full-time position: The Janitor cleans and maintains common areas of SRO properties.
The Janitor will empty trash, sweep, mop and/or vacuum (depending on floor surface) all
floors; wash walls, clean glass, shower doors, mirrors, windows, toilets, sinks, stove
tops, window ledges, sills; stock bathrooms with all necessary products, such as toilet
paper, seat liners, paper towels, soap, etc.; Ability to relate to a wide variety of people,
interact with chemicals without adverse reaction, physical ability to perform routine
cleaning as required and attention to detail. High school diploma or GED preferred;
Criminal, employment and education background check required. Must pass physical
and drug tests. Salary is $8.00 plus great benefits.

Security Supervisor
Full-time position: The Security Supervisor plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises
the security functions for several SRO properties. Some of the responsibilities include
supervising and training a team of security guards; overseeing two parks and park
workers; writing safety and emergency evacuation plans, administrative policies and
procedures and security assessment reports; planning, coordinating and maintaining the
security monitoring systems; and evaluating work standards and methods to ensure
efficiency of guards and patrols. Duties are performed with considerable independence
under the supervision of the Facilities Director. High school diploma or GED is required.
Five years of experience overseeing the physical security services of a large
organization, including at least three years in a supervisory capacity. A valid California
Driver License is required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
as well as advanced computer skills. Criminal, employment and education background
check required. Must pass physical and drug tests. Salary is $33,000-40,000/yr plus
great benefits.

All of Us or None is an organization of formerly-incarcerated people,
prisoners, and our families. We are a civil and human rights
movement, working to win full restoration of rights for people when
they come out of jail or prison, and to eliminate all forms of
discrimination that we encounter because of past convictions and
imprisonment.



Purpose:

To assist with the every day operations, growth, and activities of All
of Us or None-Los Angeles

To help build, consolidate and coordinate All of Us or None chapters
in Southern California



Responsibilities:

§ Outreach and Membership development:

§ Develop partnerships with community organizations and service
providers, attend community meetings representing All of Us or None

§ Participate in chapter development strategies: outreach,
membership and volunteer recruitment and follow-up

§ Assist in developing leadership training and political
education curriculum

§ Define, delegate, and coordinate tasks for interns and volunteers

§ Maintain database of members and allies

§ Campaign Planning and Public Advocacy

§ Meet and correspond with elected officials to advocate for full
restoration of our rights, particularly focusing on Ban the Box in Los
Angeles County as a whole

§ Coordinate the Ban the Box Organizing Committee – develop
agendas, notify members of meetings, ensure follow up on designated
tasks

§ Assist in formulation of strategies and activities to move
campaigns forward

§ Participate in public speaking opportunities on behalf of the
campaign and All of Us or None

§ Develop methods for volunteers and members to engage in
effective public advocacy and public education

§ Attend conferences and coalition events to promote the All of
Us or None program

§ Fund-Raising

§ Represent All of Us or None and LSPC during site visits with funders

§ Review grant proposals

§ Develop grassroots fund-raising strategies, including major
donor outreach

§ Regional Coordination:

§ Meet with members from other Southern California chapters quarterly

§ Post action items to TakeActionCA.org for all Southern
California chapters

§ Participate in monthly statewide conference calls

§ Assist in regional coordination of statewide campaigns (such as
voter education outreach)

§ Follow up with contacts in Southern California expressing
interest in founding an All of Us or None Organizing Committee, or
launching a Ban the Box campaign





Qualifications:

Formerly-incarcerated person, or extensive knowledge of and experience
with the criminal justice system

Understanding of All of Us or None policy goals and overall program

Critical understanding of the criminal justice system, the barriers
faced by people returning home from prison, and a passion to impact
policy in this area

Broad commitment to social justice organizing and principles

Desire and ability to build leadership among formerly-incarcerated people

Able to travel and work some weekends –should own a car, have a
drivers’ license and insurance



Required Skills:

Good administrative skills: able to organize and access information,
answer phone and e-mail messages, keep well-organized paper and
electronic files

WORD, Excel, and e-mail/Internet computer skills

Strong communication skills – oral and written: ability to write
letters and present our point of view clearly

ABOUT US: InnerCity Struggle (ICS) is a social justice, community-building, and membership driven organization based in Eastside of Los Angeles. ICS works with youth and families to promote safe, healthy and non-violent communities. We organize youth and families in Boyle Heights, unincorporated East Los Angeles, El Sereno and Lincoln Heights to work together for social and educational justice. Through high school established campus clubs called, United Students, we organize and engage high school youth and provide leadership development, cultural education, and academic services to, ultimately, empower young people as agents for systemic social change. The purpose for United Students is to build a student union of young people to work towards building power, ensure educational justice, up hold a student’s right to a quality education and creating campaigns to challenge the existing social and economic inequities in the current educational system.



JOB DESCRIPTION: The organizer would be responsible for effectively running and operating our youth clubs at (2) East Los Angeles high schools, which require advanced organizing skills to facilitate school-change campaigns. The ideal candidate would have previous experience developing popular education curriculum for youth, facilitating and coordinating youth leadership trainings and a track record of effective base building.





Key youth component responsibilities include:

* Implement effective and efficient outreach strategies to engage youth and meet weekly goals at 2 school sites (i.e. Phone-Banking 6-8 hrs a week, conducting classroom presentation, coordinating lunch time outreach)
* Coordinate student led high school-site campaigns at (2) high school campus’
* Manage and coordinate weekly reports, evaluations and documentation of US activities
* Develop and maintain relationship with school staff and other key allies
* Develop relationships and maintain communication with parents/guardians of US members
* Work with other US staff to coordinate US activities
* Responsible for the development and training of core youth members to recruit, engage, and sustain the involvement of an active base of youth members in educational justice campaigns at their school
* Travel for United Students related activities (retreats, advances, conferences, networking)
* And other duties as identified by Youth Organizing Director



ICS is seeking a person who meets the following qualifications:

* College Graduate who holds, at minimum, a Bachelor of Arts Degree- or related experience
* Minimum 2 years experience in community or youth organizing in communities of color
* The ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, time sensitive environment
* Track record of accomplishing goals and objectives individually and in a team atmosphere
* Experience in developing program and communication materials
* Effective and concise writing and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively with school and district staff and officials Experience in grass-roots fundraising
* Bilingual in Spanish- preferred
* Microsoft Office Experience and Adobe Illustrator- emphasis on program material development, fliers and brochuresCA drivers license and access to an automobile helpful

AIDS Walk Los Angeles is seeking enthusiastic, motivated individuals to become representatives for our outreach team! AIDS Walk Los Angeles is a fundraising walkathon benefiting AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and other L.A. County AIDS service organizations. The 10k walk begins and ends in West Hollywood on Sunday, October 17.

Position: Outreach representatives will distribute posters, registration materials, and point-of-purchase stands in local stores and businesses throughout Los Angeles County in an effort to maximize visibility, build awareness and generate excitement about the upcoming AIDS Walk Los Angeles.

This position is TEMPORARY and pays $15/hour. Positions begin on Tuesday, August 3 and will last approximately two weeks. During this time, the job will be a FULL TIME position, working from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Applicants must commit to the full two weeks with no schedule conflicts. Depending on performance, additional employment opportunities may become available after the initial hiring period.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Our research study evaluates several communication technologies. You are invited to participate in the experiment, which involves social interaction with technology or other individuals. Your participation is voluntary.







We will ask you to question to your interaction partner about his/her daily life or respond to those questions asked by your interaction partner, and then answer a questionnaire collecting feedback about your experience. The study will require approximately 75 minutes to complete. The study procedures will be video-taped; if you do not want to be video-taped, you cannot participate. You will be compensated for your participation with $30.







We are looking for male or female native English speakers between the ages of 18 and 60. In addition to possessing these characteristics, you must also have unimpaired vision or your vision must be corrected to 20/20.

UNION ORGANIZER

The CLEAN Carwash Campaign is seeking a full-time Union Organizer to help carwash workers win social and economic justice on the job through building strong unions.

CLEAN stands for Community-Labor-Environmental Action Network, and is a diverse coalition of labor, immigrant rights, community, religious, and student organizations that supports the organizing efforts of carwash workers who are fighting for better wages, working conditions, and dignity and respect on the job. Carwash workers have formed the Carwash Workers Organizing Committee of the United Steelworkers (CWOC-USW) to organize and win union recognition by carwash employers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of assisting on union organizing campaigns, including research, committee building, assessments, developing literature, and running meetings and workplace actions.
We are looking for organizers with an ability to empower and build relationships with low-wage, immigrant workers, a commitment to union organizing, leadership experience, and an ability to work long and irregular hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with workers at home, on the job, and at meetings.

  • Identify, recruit, and train worker leaders.

  • Organize and mobilize workers to action.

  • Lead and assist with demonstrations, actions, pickets, and other events.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bilingual Spanish/English verbal and written ability.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of basic labor laws, particularly as they relate to organizing.

  • Ability to work independently with initiative and creativity.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

  • Commitment to organizing low-wage immigrant workers.

  • Minimum 2 years community or union organizing experience, and commitment to labor movement.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • An insured and registered vehicle with valid driver’s license.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience. Benefits package provided.
